I'm not quite sure where the idea came from to record a collection of instrumentals. My wife Kasha had something to do with it, because from her talking about it, I seriously thought about it, which lead to recording it.

As for the compositions, each arrived in its own way. A few were born performance ready, others were slow to take shape. The compositions are not tightly scripted, allowing for change and evolution. None are played the same way twice. Each performance is a candid interpretation of a theme, belonging to the moment it was recorded. In live performance, the compositions have continued to evolve.
