JANUARY 2008 - Happy New Year!!! Wishing you and all a great 2008. Got a few things to tell you. The new CD Eclectic Treehouse can now be purchased through my web site, via PayPal. This is a 150 limited edition series. The CDs are numbered and signed. Eclectic Treehouse is also available as a digital download through links from this web site. I was contacted a few days ago from an internet radio station. The station’s been playing two of my songs, Georgia Blues and Wish I Had A Boat. FEBRUARY
2008 - Hi friends. Back with another installment of News & Events.
Now that I’m done producing the instrumental CD, “Eclectic
Treehouse”, I’ve decided to start writing more songs with
lyrics. I have no intentions at this time of releasing yet another CD,
but I will keep writing and recording songs. Most likely I’ll release
the songs as digital downloads. I just posted two new songs on Myspace,

MARCH
2008 - I few months ago, I was
asked to write a song with a young pop artist named Jesse Hart. Pop
music isn’t my thing, but I thought I’d try my hand at it. Jesse and
I got together a few times and wrote “Born In Brazil”. Jesse asked
me to produce a recording of the song and then returned to the west
coast. After giving this project some thought, I decided the way I
wanted to go was to combine “real” traditional instruments with
“samples”. What I was after was a recording that had a good feel but
also utilized some of the sounds of contemporary recordings. I pulled
together some good musicians and Roger Lopez, my engineer friend. We

March, I’ll be playing at The
Vineyard every Wednesday from 7:00 to 10:00pm. It’s an intimate
wine bar in Dr. Phillips. The address is 4848 Apopka –Vineland Road. This
month, I have the rare treat of having my daughter Shelby Layne open for
me at a Langford Park concert. Shelby will perform with Parker (banjo)
and Casey (bass) Allen. Shelby has been singing and dancing since she
could talk and walk. Music
is her passion. The FREE concert will be Sunday, March 9th,
2:30 to 4:30pm in Orlando at Langford Park, 1808 East Central
Blvd. in the Gazebo. Don’t miss this one. I’ll
be doing a concert in Eustis on Saturday, March 15th
at The Eustis Women’s Club. This music series has been going on
for quite a number of years. The Women’s Club is a great venue for
music. There will be the traditional potluck dinner from 7:00 to 8:00pm,
so bring your favorite dish. The concert is from 8:00 to 9:00pm,
followed by a jam. There’s a $7 donation. I’ll
be at Urban Flats in Winter Garden on Friday, March 14th
and Friday, March 28th, 9:00pm to 12:00 midnight.

APRIL
2008 - Spring is here in Orlando.
Our winter was mild in comparison to many cities around the US. I always
have to remind myself of that when I complain about the cold here.
I’ve lived in Orlando for 16 and a half years. Before that I was in
Southern California for over 22 years. I have no tolerance for cold
weather. I guess I’m in the right place. This
month I’ll be at the Vineyard 6:00 to 9:00 on Wednesdays,
April 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd
and the 30th . It’s
located in Dr Phillips, 4848 Apopka Vineland Road. Cool intimate
atmosphere. On
Friday, April 11th, I’ll be at the Attic Door
in Winter Garden, 8:00 to 11:00 and on Thursday, April 24th

The series called the Joe Prine Concert Series is held at Arts

JUNE 2008 - I’m sitting at the computer up
in my music room. So far this year, the temp has been cool enough for me
to open the windows for comfortable air. The evenings especially, with a
nice breeze have been wonderful. Not so today. The AC is on with the
arrival of June in Florida. In a few weeks, summer will officially be

OCTOBER 2008 - I’m back from the UK. Always enjoy my time there. This year it was a bit cold and rained often, but still had a great time playing gigs and seeing friends. |

NOVEMBER 2008 - October came, and quickly went along with Halloween. November is here now and soon we’ll be eating turkey. The long Florida summer is over and now it’s unseasonably cold. Got an Email from an English friend of mine who lives near London. Usually not much snow falls there in the winter, yet it snowed a few days ago. Maybe we’re all in for a cold winter. I prefer the summers. I’m up in my music room now. It’s about 7:30am and cold. I’ve got an electric heater on full blast. The “Eclectic Treehouse” Blue Series limited edition is almost sold out. I’ll soon be running a second limited edition called the Green Series. On Sunday, November 2nd, I’ll be performing at the Barberville Jamboree. DECEMBER 2008 - Thanksgiving was wonderful. Got
together with family. Ate and talked and ate and ate. I’m paying for
it today. Feels like I have a lead weight in my stomach. My Christmas CD “SIX STRING CHRISTMAS” is
